- The applicant should personally
introduce the documents at the Consulate General Monday through Friday
from 2:00 till 4:30pm;
- In case the applicant cannot
be present in person, the documents should be handed over by a third
person, preferably a member of the family. This third person should
have a letter of consent by the applicant allowing him/her to act on
his/her behalf and mentioning their relationship. This letter of consent
should also explain why the applicant cannot be present in person. This
document should be in Dutch, French or English;
- Applicants should bring
a copy of their id-card, residents card or passport;
- Applicants should leave
their telephone number at the Consulate General;
- Whether it is the applicant
in person who introduces the documents or another person acting on his/her
behalf, he/she should always be in the possession of a letter/certificate
explaining the goal of the legalization. This letter/certificate should
come from a local authority in Belgium or from a lawyer;
- All documents for legalization
should be presented in notarised form;
- Only documents that have
already been legalized by the authorities of Shanghai district or the
Provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu or Anhui will be accepted. All documents
originating from other parts in China will not be accepted for legalization;
- The issue date of the documents
should not be older than 6 months at the time that they are presented
at the Consulate General for legalization;
- The consular fee for the
legalization should be paid at the same time that the documents are
handed over at the counter;
- If the above regulations
are not followed, the documents for legalization will not be accepted;
- The Consulate General avails
itself the right to ask for additional information at any time, or to
investigate the authenticity of the submitted documents.
