DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA

FOR FAMILY REUNION (students)

 

1)     A valid passport: To be obtained from the local Public Security Bureau. Please submit two photocopies of your complete passport (all the filled pages).

 

2)     Four application forms signed and dated by the applicant. These forms are to be completed in Dutch, French or English, preferably by typewriter. On each form a 2-inch photograph should be affixed.

 

3)     Two photocopies of the applicant’s identity card.

 

4)     A notarized certificate of good conduct together with a translation. This document has to be certified by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Bureau or the relevant provincial Foreign Affairs Bureau. It is valid only six months from the date of issue. In case you resided in a foreign country during the latest 5 years, you should moreover submit a certificate issued by the relevant authorities of that foreign country.*

 

5)     Your marriage certificate: i.e. a true certified copy in the notarized form of your red marriage booklet.*

 

6)     A notarized birth certificate.*

 

Please submit two photocopies of the documents under item 5 & 6. The original certificates will be returned to you when the visa is granted.

 

7)     A certificate issued by the authorities of the husband’s/ spouse’s place of residence in Belgium proving that he/ she has accommodation sufficient for both partners.

 

8)  A/ In case the husband/spouse is residing in Belgium on a scholarship, proof should be provided of the scholarship being sufficient to support both partners. (Present minimum amount per month is 1382€ = 750€ + 482€ for the student + 150€ for the visa applicant)

                                                           

OR

B/ By a guarantor residing in China or in a foreign country

1)      A letter of guarantee (in the prescribed form – annex 32) by your guarantor. If the guarantor is residing in China, he is required to accompany the applicant to submit the application file and fill in the letter of guarantee in person at the Consulate General. If the guarantor is residing in a foreign country, this document can be obtained from the diplomatic or consular mission of Belgium in this country and has to be certified.

2)      A photocopy of the guarantor’s identity card.

3)      A statement from the Fortis Bank in Belgium, proving that the applicant has deposited minimum €1200 in husband’s / spouse’s bank account. In case of study in Belgium less than 1 year, the deposit should be at least €150/month X duration of study.

OR

C/ By a guarantor residing in Belgium

1)      A letter of guarantee (in the prescribed form – annex 32) by your guarantor. This document can be obtained from the guarantor’s municipality in Belgium and has to be certified.

2)      A certificate of registration issued to the guarantor by the municipality in Belgium; a photocopy of the guarantor’s identity card / passport.

3)      Proof of the solvency of the guarantor  (bank account statement / salary sheet / tax paper). Proven monthly income should be at least 750€ + 150€ for the visa applicant +482€ for the student + 150€ for each dependant family member.

 

9)        A certificate of registration issued to the husband/spouse by the municipality in Belgium and a photocopy of the husband’s/ spouse’s Belgian residence permit.

 

10)    Two envelopes with family name, first name, address and post code in Chinese and your telephone number.

 

 

Note:   All documents (except those under 1, 2 & 3) have to be produced in one original and one photocopy. You are requested to submit two photocopies of the letter of guarantee.

You should submit all the required documents listed above in person Monday through Thursday from 9:30 till 12:00 AM. Visas can be picked up Monday through Friday from 14:00 till 16:30 PM.

Only complete files will be accepted.

 

 

*: All notarized certificates shall be authenticated by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Foreign Affairs Bureau or the relevant provincial Foreign Affairs Bureau before being authenticated by the Consulate General of Belgium.

Please note that a visa for family reunion with your spouse – student is only valid for the duration of the spouse’s studies in Belgium.
