DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA
FOR MARRIAGE IN BELGIUM
The marriage is to take place within 3 months (period for which this
type of visa is valid).
1. A valid passport:
To be obtained from the local Public Security Bureau. Please submit two
photocopies of your complete passport (all the filled pages).
2. Four application
forms signed and dated by the applicant. These forms are to be completed in Dutch, French, or
English, preferably by typewriter. On each form a 2-inch photograph should be affixed.
3. Two photocopies of the applicant’s
identity card.
4. A medical
certificate (in the prescribed form from the Consulate General and not older
than 6 months) to be signed and stamped by the designated hospital. The medical

5 A notarized certificate of
good conduct (not older than 6 months) together with a translation. This
document has to be authenticated by the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs
Bureau or the relevant provincial Foreign Affairs Bureau. In case you resided in a foreign country during the latest 5 years, you
should moreover submit a certificate issued by the relevant authorities of that
foreign country.
6 A letter of guarantee (in
the prescribed form) by your fiancé residing in Belgium. This document can be
obtained from the municipality in Belgium and has to be certified. Please
submit two photocopies of the letter of guarantee.
7 Proof of the solvability of
the guarantor (bank account statement / salary sheet / tax paper). The
guarantor should bring proof to have a regular monthly income of at least 800€
+ 150€ for each dependent family member
+ 150€ for the visa applicant.
8 A certificate of
registration issued to the guarantor by the municipality in Belgium and a
photocopy of the guarantor’s identity card or unlimited residence permit.
9 Proof of your own means of
subsistence (if applicable).

A copy of the certificate of marriage notification issued by the
registration service of the competent municipality in Belgium. This certificate
cannot be older than 6 months and 14 days.

Two envelopes with family name, first name and address in Chinese and
your telephone number.
Note: All documents (except
those under 1, 2 & 3) have to be produced in one original and one photocopy.
You should submit all the required documents listed above in person Monday through Thursday from
9:30 till 12:00 AM.
Visas can be picked up Monday through Friday from 14:00 till 16:30 PM.
Only complete files will be accepted.
Your dossier will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for
approval.
You will be informed in due time of the decision taken by these
authorities.
